Surprisingly enough, grains were not part of human life until the Neolithic period. The earliest discoveries place the targeted cultivation of cereal as early as 8000 B.C. Given their wealth of minerals and vitamins, it is no wonder that grain farming and the beginning of the bread culture went together.
